Pandiman Seminar for Manning Agents - 29 October 2014
In a continued effort to provide updates on the industry and encourage lively debate on various related subjects, Pandiman conducted its 23rd all day seminar for Manning Agents on Wednesday the 29th of October.
We continue to provide these seminars on a monthly basis as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility and have entertained over 550 delegates from over 300 Manning Agencies.

Nickel ore is used for the production of stainless steel and more recently a surging market, batteries for electric cars and is very much a part of modern life. China is the largest importer and the Philippines provides up to 30 million wmt (wet metric tonne) of this demand a year.

We have had a significant number of enquires in regards to Filipino crew who will be on board vessels visiting ports in Indonesia. Most Filipino’s have the Polio vaccine when they are infants and therefore no certificate, in order to comply with latest requirements those onboard will require re-vaccination.

The issue of a potential unfair dismissal is always a lively one and there are no short cuts to getting it right. Over the
years we have seen too many where one could easily reason the dismissal was fair, however unless the allegation is a strong one and falls under Section 33 of the POEA contract as a grave abuse with endangerment to the vessel or the lives of those onboard, then immediate dismissal is difficult. -
